The Life of Our Story
Hello Pure Intelligence Community! Welcome to this month's newsletter, where we're diving into the exciting world of the life of your story. We'll be sharing some actionable tips to heighten your awareness of your story and how it's influencing the way you see yourself and the world around you.
Dr. Cory's PI Thoughts
Your story can be likened to a dot-to-dot drawing where each dot represents a significant personal experience that was meaningful--whether positive or negative. Connecting these dots in detail reveals the broder picture of our life authored moment-by-moment, at least from the perceived reality at the time.
These defining moments in your life act as anchors holding you in a specific mindset, influencing your beliefs, attitudes, and expectations. It’s important to remember that your narratives do not represent an exhaustive picture of everything that’s happened in your life. Rather, you make “narrative choices,” selectively focusing on the most relevant and impactful events of your life—good and bad—because those are the moments you’ve perceived as shaping your identity.
- What are some defining moments in your life that have shaped your current beliefs and attitudes?
- How do these moments act as anchors in your story of life and your self-narratives?
- What new perspectives can you gain by reinterpreting and assigning new meaning to these moments?
This Month's Masterclass
Benjamin Franklin shared: "Life is not given meaning in death or one great event, but in every moment of each day, as we are asked to live it."
What are the questions life is asking you...today?
Whatever those questions are, you have the chance to make the necessary adjustment if you don't like your responses--at least for now!
In this masterclass we will:
- Address how our brain is hardwired to assign meaning to experiences, see pattrns and connect them to form our story.
- Identify how your personal history, as narrated by your story, characterizes the thoughts, values, and commitments you believe will support your ability to survive and eventually thrive.
- Discuss the role of stories, in creating the culture from family, community, organization, state or nations.
- Explore how we form connections through our stories.
